Hey, guys! I have been in Los Angeles since last week to visit my mom, sister, and brother-in-law. Tonight is my last night here, so we decided to head over to Redondo Beach King Harbor for dinner. My sister recommended eating at Captain Kidd’s which is a cute little seafood place right by the water.
The first thing I noticed when we parked the car was the sound of sea lions. Yes, there are sea lions that hang around by the water at Redondo Beach. Unfortunately, it was dark when we got there so we weren’t able to see them, but it was still cool to hear them! The restaurant itself was amazing! When you walk in, you’ll notice to the right there is a standardized seafood restaurant menu that you can order from. To the left is a fresh seafood market where you can pick just about any type of seafood you want.
You can specify how much you want, and if you want to eat at the restaurant, the chefs will cook it however you want whether that’s chargrilled, deep fried, or sautéed. You can even choose to purchase the seafood and it will be packed up so you can take it home to cook yourself. There is a card in front of each pile of seafood. The card not only names the type of seafood but also tells you where it was caught. My mom, sister, and I decided to have the salmon which was caught in Canada. The card recommended to have the salmon chargrilled, so we took that recommendation.
In the market side of the restaurant, each order comes with two sides. You could choose everything from corn on the cob, hush puppies, fruit, french fries, and soup. My mom ordered some of the lobster bisque. She said it was good but wasn’t the best version of the soup she has ever had. We all agreed the fish was amazing though!
You can’t go wrong with anything you pick. The restaurant seating area was really quiet and peaceful. The restaurant itself is on the water, and it’s a nice little place to walk around and see the boats.
If you’re ever in the area and love seafood, I can’t recommend Captain Kidd’s enough! If you’re looking for other fun things to do in Los Angeles, make sure to check out my post about how I became a contestant on “The Price is Right” by clicking here!
