Hey, beauties! If you follow my blog often, you know I am a huge fan of ELF makeup. Not only are their products insanely cheap, but the quality is AMAZING! Seriously, I have used the same ELF eyeshadow pallet for years and constantly get compliments. When I worked for an NFL cheerleading organization, our official makeup sponsor was MAC. I was given a pretty nice discount to purchase their products, so I definitely took advantage to try some of their more popular products. One product that topped my list was the MAC Prep & Prime Fix + Makeup Setting Spray. I had used the ELF Makeup Mist & Set for years, so I decided it was time to splurge and test out the MAC product.

I was looking for a great spray that would set my makeup and make sure it stayed put through sweat and rain. Let me start off by saying the MAC Prep & Prime Fix + Makeup Setting Spray is great! It certainly does the job and not only sets my loose powder, but it also keeps my makeup in place. While both products have a pump, which is totally convenient, I found the MAC Prep & Prime Fix + Makeup Setting Spray tends to spray way too much product on my face. Sometimes it feels like my makeup is going to slide off my face until the spray drys. When comparing the pumps, ELF definitely wins out. It sprays the perfect amount so my powder is set, yet my makeup hasn’t budged.
I think that’s what we all want when looking for a makeup setting spray. The staying power for both of these products is great as well. The MAC Prep & Prime Fix + Makeup Setting Spray kept my makeup perfect all day during my sister’s wedding through the tears and Florida humidity. The ELF Makeup Mist & Set kept my makeup in place all day at a water park. I use sunscreen when I go to water parks, but my face is so sensitive that wearing SPF Foundation gives my skin another layer of protection. I set my foundation with the ELF Makeup Mist & Set and my foundation didn’t budge all day even though I was constantly underwater. Although I love both of these products, I think ELF Makeup Mist & Set is the clear winner.
Plus, it is so much cheaper which makes it a perfect dupe for MAC. You can purchase the Elf Makeup Mist & Set for $3 while MAC is a splurge at $25. In my opinion, this is one of the few times where the drugstore product is superior to the more expensive product. If you’re looking for a great setting spray, I can’t recommend ELF Makeup Mist & Set enough!
